Kicking off summer with big news + bold moves
Here’s what’s new across Girls Into VC this season
To our returning readers, we’re so glad to have you with us again. And to our new subscribers, we’re thrilled you’re here!
Girls Into VC is the first global organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of women in venture capital.
In each issue, you’ll find updates from our community, stories of women breaking into VC, and curated opportunities to help you launch your career.
Did you know women account only for 9% of venture capitalists, 8% of firm partners, and 7% of board seat members. We are here to change that.
Join us in building a future where women are making bold moves in investing, driving innovation, and creating lasting impact. 🚀
Big news to kick off summer…
Girls Into VC just received official 501(c)(3) status! 🎉
This means donations are now tax-deductible. If you’d like to support our work, just reply to this email and we’ll coordinate with you.
Now onto the fun stuff...
☀️ GIVC Summer Update
We’re treating summer as a head start with a new team!

Girls Into VC is excited to welcome a new set of powerhouse women to our Executive Board—leaders from around the world ready to shift the balance of who gets to fund the future.
GIVC Summer 2025 Fellowship

Our 10-week Fellowship is officially underway. With 30 standout young women selected to join the cohort, diving into hands-on projects, expert-led sessions, and real-world exposure. Our program is dedicated to equipping young women with knowledge and skills in venture capital and the startup ecosystem.
💬 Hear a live update from our Director of Fellowship, Grace Jolas:
“The fellowship has been incredible so far! We’ve kicked things off by covering the basics of venture capital in class and welcomed two amazing guest speakers, Grace Kasten from Pace Capital and Sophia Zhao from Alumni Ventures. The girls have been doing such thoughtful work, really internalizing the speakers’ advice and the ABCs of VC, and are quickly beginning to shape their own investment theses rooted in their unique backgrounds and interests. I’ve been so impressed by everyone, and I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow throughout the rest of the course!”
We’re so excited to continue sharing their progress and growth throughout the summer!
In NYC for the summer? Stop by our picnic!

America’s First Woman Billionaire Venture Capitalist: Theresia Gouw
Theresia Gouw, Indonesian immigrant, engineer, early Facebook investor, and cofounder of Acrew Capital, just became America’s first and only billionaire female venture capitalist, with an estimated net worth of $1.2B.
Born in Indonesia to Chinese parents, Gouw immigrated to the U.S. at age 3 and became the first in her high school to attend Brown. She went on to earn an MBA from Stanford, and eventually joined Accel Partners, where she helped lead its legendary early investment in Facebook.
Now, she runs Acrew Capital, an early-stage VC firm she co-founded in 2019 that manages $1.7 billion in assets. Acrew is built around a mission Girls Into VC knows well: increasing representation in venture capital. Over 80% of Acrew’s founding investment team are women or people of color. The firm also launched the Diversify Capital Fund, one of the largest VC funds focused on increasing diversity in tech stock ownership—with $300M+ under management and backing from HBCUs like Fisk University.
Despite headwinds, Gouw remains a powerful yet understated force for long-term change in the industry. She co-founded All Raise, a nonprofit that supports female founders and investors in Silicon Valley through networking and mentorship. She also launched a DEI-focused fund of funds First Close Partners, and continues to invest in startups across fintech, data, and health with a values-driven approach.
💬 “It’s important for young women and young Asian American women to see someone like [Gouw] achieve what she’s achieving.” — Lauren Kolodny, cofounder of Acrew Capital

Short for “capitalization table,” it’s a spreadsheet that shows who owns what percentage of the company.
Why it matters:
Every decision, hiring, raising money, or selling comes back to the cap table. It’s the heartbeat of a startup’s ownership.
💕 Due Diligence
What it is:
The research and analysis a VC does before investing in a startup: think of it as a deep background check.
Why it matters:

💡 Women Founded Deal Highlight
Midi Health Raises $63M Series B to Transform Menopause Care

Founded in 2021 by Cecilia Mercado and Joanna Strober, Midi Health is a virtual care clinic that provides evidence-based, insurance-covered care for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and midlife hormonal transitions. Unlike typical telehealth providers, Midi is laser-focused on a population that has long been underserved in healthcare women over 40 who are navigating a phase of life riddled with misdiagnosis, stigma, and silence.
At its core, Midi offers virtual appointments with clinicians (primarily nurse practitioners trained in menopause care and supervised by OB-GYNs), and delivers personalized care plans that can include hormone replacement therapy (HRT), non-hormonal medications, lifestyle and nutrition support, and ongoing monitoring. All services are designed to be covered by insurance—a key differentiator in a field historically dominated by expensive, cash-pay wellness clinics.
💲Investors:
The Series B round includes investors like Meghan Markle, Tory Burch, Amy Schumer, and Katie Couric, alongside VC firms such as GV (Google Ventures), F7, and SteelSky Ventures.
